The JewishNewsWeekly article

The S. F. New York Deli was established in September of 2006 by four young boys just out of school. In fact one of the boys was still in school and went back after the summer. The deli was meant to target the kosher eaters in the bay area. The deli was a great success to the extent that a much larger percentage of walk-in customers were not kosher eaters than kosher eaters, just looking for a good deli sandwich. The question on everyone’s mind upon chancing the new establishment was; “will the deli pass as authentic?” The answer lies, my friends, in the mere fact of The Examiner, a daily news press, reported the S. F. New York Deli, to be of the top three deli’s in the City.

The deli opened just before the Jewish Holiday of Succoth. Throngs of Jewish people were lining out the door. Either the surprising new opening of this newly established kosher deli had caused a great deal of curiosity, or there were many out-of-town visitors conveniently sojourning upon the place, is the reason for this incredible bustle… still remains unsolved. The only fact remains, so busy were they, the neighboring restaurateurs themselves popped in for a visit.

The S. F. New York Deli was the only Kosher restaurant in the bay area to have a Succah for the Holiday of Succoth.
